Product Engineer (f/m/d) - Kitaru / ZenML
ZenML · Full-time · Location Onsite/Remote - Competitive comp + Stock options
The short version
ZenML (GitHub) is the open-source framework for production ML and agentic pipelines. Kitaru (GitHub) is our new product: turn agent traces into reliable evals - ingest production sessions, mine the high-signal cohorts, mock tools away, replay agents, ship with confidence. We don't need another classic hire. We need someone who lives and breathes on X and GitHub - who creates value in public, talks like an AI engineer, and can switch modes without drama:
one week you're shipping a feature
one week you're writing the post / thread / demo that makes builders care
one week you're on customer demos with real agent builders
You're a techie first. Marketing without shipping is cosplay. Shipping without talking to the world is invisible. This seat is both.
What you'll actually do
Build for agent builders. Ship product on Kitaru - evals, replay, cohorts, DX - with taste. You read code, you write code, you know when something is sharp vs theater.
Create in public. X is where the AI Engineering audience lives. You post, reply, demo, argue in good faith, and pull signal back into the product. Your GitHub/GitLab history is part of how we found you.
Wear the week's hat. Marketing motion, feature work, customer demos - whatever moves the needle that week. You're not "the marketing person" or "the eng person." You're the person who makes progress.
Stay close to the ICP. AI agent builders, eval nerds, people wiring LangGraph / Claude Code / custom runtimes. You already hang out there. This job just pays you to go deeper.
Feed the loop. What you hear on X, in demos, and in issues becomes product. What you ship becomes the next thread. No wall between build and distribution.
What success looks like at 6 months
A visible, credible presence in the AI Engineering / agent-builder conversation - people associate you (and Kitaru) with useful takes and real demos, not noise.
Features you owned that agent builders actually use - shipped, not slideware.
Demo and content motion that creates pipeline and product signal without a separate "GTM person" holding your hand every week.
Taste: the bar for what we ship and what we say in public went up because you were in the room.
Who you are
An AI engineer who builds in public. Not a pure marketer learning to code. Not a pure eng who hates posting. Your X and GitHub/GitLab are the résumé.
High agency, low ego. You'll invent the week's job. Nobody hands you a perfect backlog or content calendar.
Technical enough to ship. Comfortable in Python (and friends), agent frameworks, evals, traces, tooling. You can demo live and debug with a customer without hiding behind slides.
Taste for builders. You know the difference between a viral thread and a useful one. You'd rather show a sharp demo than a brand campaign.
Already in the water. You follow, reply to, and ship near the people building agents - not discovering the scene on day one.
Learning on the job, by default. The field is changing under our feet - new models, new harnesses, new ways to run and evaluate agents every month. You keep up because you can't help it, you try things before they're documented, and you bring what you learn back to the team and into the product instead of keeping it in your head.
Nice to have
OSS contributions people actually use
You've built or evaluated agents in production (not only tutorials)
Prior startup chaos - wearing multiple hats by necessity
Design / DX instincts (docs, APIs, demos that click)
What we offer
Direct line to founders; real ownership on a new product
Room to shape both the product and how the world hears about it
Stock options; competitive comp
A team that already ships OSS used by thousands of engineering teams
