Your Mission

Your mission is to become a collaborative and active member of one of our cross functional teams. You will work alongside Product Owners, Back End and Front End Engineers, DevOps, Testers and Legal Content specialists. Your focus will be on developing new and exciting models which will deliver ThoughtRiver’s Legal Tech platform.

  • Drive Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning projects from concept to fruition, taking into account any competing forces and necessary trade-offs.

  • Devise and apply novel approaches to interpret legal documents.

  • Recommend relevant research, best practices, and their application to the product and legal domain.

  • Recommend annotation, modelling, and evaluation approaches for a wide range of supervised and unsupervised problems.

  • Drive to extract maximum value from our large corpus of legal data.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • You will have a strong background in this field (ideally 5+ years' work experience), with proven commercial experience working in a related field.

  • Interest in the application and domain - solving a challenge to generate real value.

  • A pragmatic mind with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Utilisation of the latest techniques available and relish collaboration with specialists.

Essential experience:

  • Developed, tested, and deployed ML solutions to production with robust pipelines and delivered impact to customers.
  • Experience of monitoring, optimising, and maintaining ML solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Generative AI and prompt engineering (eg GPT, Llama).
  • Transformers (eg BERT, FLAN).
  • Classification, Clustering, Semantic Search, Question Answering.
  • Collaboration with engineers and the wider cross functional team.
  • CI/CD.

Desirable experience

  • Involved in architecting scalable ML solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Designed and queried relation database models using SQL.
  • Experience of vector databases such as Elasticsearch.
  • Mentorship of other ML Engineers.
  • Production quality Python (although you will be working very closely with our engineering. team, so this is NOT an engineering role).
  • Software project management principles.
