About pyannoteAI
pyannoteAI is pioneering Speaker Intelligence AI, transforming how AI processes and understands spoken language. Our speaker diarization technology distinguishes speakers with unmatched precision, regardless of the spoken language, making AI understand not just what is said, but who said it and when.
Founded by voice AI experts with 10+ years in the industry (ex-CNRS research scientists), we've built the 9th most downloaded open-source model on HuggingFace with 52 million monthly downloads and over 200,000 users worldwide. After raising €8M from leading international VCs (Crane Venture Partners, Serena, and angels from HuggingFace and OpenAI), we're now scaling our enterprise platform.
From meeting transcription and call center analytics to video dubbing and voice agents, pyannoteAI powers the next generation of voice-enabled applications across industries that depend on understanding who speaks and when.
Your role
As our first Applied AI Engineer at pyannoteAI, you'll be the technical reference point across the full customer journey — the wingman to our Account Executives during the sales cycle, and the trusted technical advisor to our customers once they're onboarded. Working directly with our founders and commercial team, you'll own the technical side of qualification, demos, and POCs in pre-sales, and ensure customers extract maximum value from pyannoteAI in post-sales.
This is a foundational role. You won't be inheriting a playbook — you'll be writing it. We're looking for someone senior enough to operate autonomously from day one, bring best practices from prior environments, iterate on how this function should work at pyannoteAI, and help shape the team as it scales.
You'll:
Pre-sales:
Own the technical sales motion — Run technical discovery calls, scope POCs, design pilot evaluations, and translate customer needs into pyannoteAI deployments.
Build and deliver demos — Create compelling, customer-specific demonstrations showing how pyannoteAI's models solve real problems (from call center analytics to multi-speaker transcription pipelines).
Lead POCs end-to-end — Define scope, success criteria, evaluation metrics, calendar, and pricing alongside the AE; manage the technical execution; present results and unblock decisions.
Partner closely with AEs — Act as the technical quarterback while the AE drives commercial momentum; co-own deal strategy on technical-heavy opportunities.
Post-sales:
Support customers in their voice AI project development — Act as their technical partner as they integrate pyannoteAI into production: advising on architecture, debugging integration challenges, optimizing pipelines, and helping them ship.
Drive adoption and expansion — Identify opportunities to deepen usage, unlock new use cases, and surface upsell signals to the commercial team.
Be the technical voice of the customer internally — Feed customer signal back to product, research, and engineering teams to inform the roadmap.
Across both:
Shape the Applied AI function — Build the demo libraries, POC templates, customer playbooks, and evaluation frameworks that future hires on the team will scale on.
What we're looking for
Must-haves:
5-6+ years of experience in applied AI, ML engineering, solutions engineering, or technical pre/post-sales — with a track record of operating autonomously and bringing structure to ambiguous environments.
Strong Python proficiency — comfortable building prototypes, integrating APIs, manipulating audio data, and writing production-quality demo code.
Track record on technical / AI projects — you've shipped real ML or data-intensive systems, not just prototypes that lived on a laptop.
Project management instinct — you can run a multi-week POC or customer integration across multiple stakeholders (customer technical team, customer business owners, AE, internal research) without dropping balls.
Excellent communication skills in English — you can explain a clustering algorithm to a CTO and ROI to a VP of Operations in the same meeting.
Customer-facing presence — you're comfortable in front of technical buyers and customer engineering teams alike, asking sharp discovery questions, and pushing back when needed.
Founding-team mindset — you want to build the role, not just fill it.
Nice-to-haves:
Rust proficiency — increasingly relevant as our inference and pipeline tooling evolves.
Voice AI / audio domain experience — speech recognition, speaker diarization, audio processing, or adjacent fields.
Experience in an early-stage startup — comfort with ambiguity, building processes from scratch, and wearing multiple hats.
Familiarity with the modern voice AI stack — STT, TTS, LLMs, real-time audio (LiveKit, WebRTC), orchestration frameworks.
Experience with enterprise sales cycles — POCs, RFPs, security reviews, procurement.
French — useful but not required; we operate in English.
What you’ll get
Benefits:
Competitive compensation package with attractive salary and BSPCE (French ESOP)
Premium Alan health insurance
Full transportation reimbursement
5 weeks of paid vacation + 10 RTT days

Hybrid flexibility - Work remotely up to 3 days per week while staying connected to the team.
Top-tier equipment - Everything you need to do your best work.
Growth & Impact:
A foundational role shaping how pyannoteAI delivers technical value to enterprise customers — with a clear path to grow into a senior position as the team scales
Direct exposure to the company's roadmap and leadership
Work alongside the creators of pyannote.audio and a world-class research team in VoiceAI
Be part of the first employees: access to founders, speed of execution, and accountability from day one with growing responsibilities tied to performance
⭐️ Hiring process
We've designed a comprehensive process to ensure mutual fit for this strategic role. Here's what to expect:

Case study (1 week) - Case study testing your project management and technical skills, to then be debriefed with Vincent
Founders conversation (2 x 30 min) - Meet our CSO and CTO co-founders to align on vision, discuss the voice AI landscape, and explore what excites you about the space.
Timeline: Typically 2.5-3 weeks from application to offer. We'll keep you informed at every stage and respond within 2-3 days after each step.
