About the Role:
As a Kurrent Senior Technical Writer, you will create and manage world-class documentation, user guides, tutorials, and other resources that enhance the Kurrent user experience.
The ideal candidate is a technically astute self-starter with a demonstrated history of creation of documentation and other assets related to successful software adoption in a fast-moving, startup environment. You are someone who understands what good looks like in technical documentation; from composition and organization to tooling and workflow.
The role will report to Kurrent’s Head of Education and collaborate with Engineering, Field Technical Services, and Support to deeply understand Kurrent’s products and continuously refine and improve our documentation.

We're 100% remote. Flexible hours are expected to ensure collaboration with global team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, write, edit, and maintain clear, engaging technical documentation, including user guides and procedural content.
- Collaborate with our product, engineering, and support teams to deliver discoverable, accurate, high-quality documentation and user guides.
- Develop and enforce clear content standards, workflows, and best practices to ensure consistency, traceability, and professionalism across all materials.
- Translate complex technical specifications into user-friendly content tailored to Kurrent’s audience of developers and operators.
- Contribute to organizing the technical documentation to help users find the needed information quickly.
- Gather and analyze user feedback to refine and improve documentation
- Contribute to the management of the documentation tools, standards, and repositories to ensure efficiency and scalability
- Support internal teams with technical writing expertise to improve communication clarity and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and exemplary writing and editing skills
- Experienced technical writer with 4+ years of relevant experience developing documentation for developers and operators/administrators
- Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
- Empathy. The documentation should be written from the perspective of what our users need to be successful
- Experience using Markdown, GitHub, and static-site generators, following a ‘docs as code’ approach
- Familiarity with at least two programming languages (Kurrent Clients: Java, C#, Python, Rust, Go, Node.JS, and Typescript)
- Hands-on programming experience, including the ability to use a command-line interface and IDE
- Ability to write code, or at a minimum, interpret code, examples and provide clear, concise explanations for users
- Self-starting team player who is curious, proactive, and motivated to improve Kurrent users’ experience
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, audience analysis, and user empathy skills
- Portfolio of publicly available technical writing samples
Beneficial Qualifications:
- Published author of technical manuals or guides
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, event sourcing
- Ability to create and maintain code samples and demo applications
- Experience managing large documentation sets with effective information architecture
- Front-end development experience using Vue, with proficiency in Vuepress, GitHub, and Algolia for documentation infrastructure
- Experience using Cloudflare and Kapa.ai
- Experience working in a remote environment
