About The Company
Founders today are building global companies from day one — but the systems that manage their money were built for a different era. Aspire exists to change that!
We’re building the financial operating system for global founders, bringing banking, software, and automation into a single platform so businesses can move faster across borders and stay focused on building.
Aspire is built by people who think from first principles, care deeply about solving hard problems, and take real ownership of their work. Our team brings global experience from leading fintech and technology companies, and many of us are former founders and operators who understand what it takes to build thoughtfully, make trade-offs, and deliver at scale in a global environment.
Backed by leading global investors including Y Combinator, Peak XV, and Lightspeed, Aspire has been trusted by more than 50,000 startups and growing businesses worldwide to manage their finances since 2018. Together with partners like J.P. Morgan, Visa, and Wise, we’re building for the next generation of global companies.
About The Role
Finance Strategy & Operations sits at the intersection of Aspire's most critical financial priorities and their execution.
As Aspire scales into a truly international operation — with subsidiaries across the US, Australia, Netherlands, and the UK — this role exists to ensure our finance function scales with it. You will drive alongside the Group Financial Controller the transformation of finance operations: modernising legacy processes, driving automation and AI-led improvements, and acting as the central connective tissue between Finance and the rest of the business.
This is not an advisory or analytical role. You will personally lead change, own processes end-to-end, and be accountable for outcomes that measurably improve how Finance operates at Aspire.

What You'll Be Doing
- Drive Finance Transformation: Lead the ongoing programme to modernise Aspire's finance operations — replacing legacy processes with scalable, automated, and controlled alternatives. Identify inefficiencies across the finance stack and take personal ownership of delivering improvements through system enhancement, process re-engineering, and AI tooling.
- Core Finance Processes: Working alongside the heads of the finance function (Group FC, Group Treasury, Group FP&A), act as a key stakeholder in enabling key finance operations, including back-office accounting, general ledger integrity, treasury management, and reconciliation frameworks. Design and maintain operating models that support accuracy, control, and scale as transaction volumes and entity complexity grow.
- Bridge Finance and Product: Serve as the primary conduit between product and engineering teams and the finance function for the launch of new products, geographies, and capabilities. Ensure that financial reporting, risk management, and regulatory considerations are embedded from day one — not retrofitted after launch.
- Architect for International Scale: Design finance processes and controls that work across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions. Support the build-out of subsidiary operations with finance frameworks that are consistent, auditable, and efficient — without creating unnecessary complexity.
- Embed Control Within Automation: Champion a philosophy of scaling with control: every automation or AI tool introduced must preserve or strengthen the integrity of financial data and reporting. Define standards and governance for how Finance adopts new tooling, and ensure changes don't introduce operational or regulatory risk.
- Improve Commercial and Financial Reporting: Work with FP&A, accounting, and treasury teams to enhance the quality, timeliness, and usefulness of financial reporting — including management accounts, ledger close processes, and cash/liquidity visibility across entities.
- 5+ years in finance operations, finance transformation, or a hybrid Finance/Strategy & Operations role within a high-growth or regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading finance transformation programmes — not just participating in them. You should be able to point to processes, systems, or capabilities you materially changed.
- Deep working knowledge of back-office finance operations: general ledger, reconciliation, treasury, intercompany accounting, and month-end close.
- Experience acting as a bridge between technical/product teams and finance — translating business change into finance impact and vice versa.
- Strong process design instincts: the ability to map, challenge, and rebuild finance workflows with automation and control in mind.
- Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where you are expected to create structure, not wait for it.
- Academic achievement from a leading university; a finance, accounting, or quantitative discipline is preferred.
- Experience in retail financial services, payments, or fintech — particularly with high-volume transaction data flowing into a general ledger.
- Exposure to multi-entity, multi-currency finance operations across international subsidiaries.
- Familiarity with finance automation tooling, ERP implementation or enhancement, or AI applications within a finance function.
- Understanding of financial risk, regulatory reporting, or treasury management in a licensed financial services context.
- Prior experience in a top-tier consulting firm with a finance or financial services practice focus.
